JOB TITLE : HEAD OF PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for leading and managing the development, implementation and continuous improvement of performance management systems and practices within the Company. This role emphasizes cultivating a high-performance culture through strategic initiatives, process optimization and collaboration with the Management Team to ensure that employees fulfil performance expectations.
Additionally, this role also manages the disciplinary and union-related matters, as well as mediate conflicts to maintain a positive working environment to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement that enables employees to excel, ultimately driving the overall success of the Company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performance Management:
• Develop, implement and manage performance appraisal framework and systems, including setting up regular performance reviews and feedback mechanisms, ensuring they are aligned with the Company’s vision, mission, core value and business goals
• Review, update and implement performance management policies, procedures and guidelines, ensuring adherence to the Employment Act, relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in performance management to recommend and implement enhancements to existing processes
• Evaluate the effectiveness of performance management systems and adjust where necessary, exploring opportunities to automate performance management processes for efficiency
• Plan and manage the financial aspects for performance management initiatives, ensuring that they are cost-effective and provide a positive return on investment (ROI)
Appraisal Process Management:
• Manage the annual appraisal process, ensuring accuracy and timely completion
• Work closely with the department heads and line managers to facilitate performance discussions and provide reliable guidance on performance related matters
• Analyze employee performance data to uncover trends, identify gaps and highlight areas for improvement, using data-driven insights to support decision-making, and providing actionable recommendations to improve employee performance
• Maintain performance management reports to monitor performance metrics, trends, gaps and areas for improvement, presenting these reports to the Management Team for oversight and decision-making purposes
• Guide employees and Line Managers on how to use performance evaluation systems, including the development of tools and support materials
Training & Development:
• Collaborate with the Training & Development Team to design and implement training programmes that support performance improvement and employee growth
Disciplinary Management:
• Manage all disciplinary cases, including conducting investigation, issuing warning and ensuring adherence to labour laws, other applicable regulatory requirements and Company policies/procedures
Union Management:
• Collaborate with union representatives, participate in collective bargaining processes and address union-related issues maintain harmonious industrial relations
Conflict Resolution & Performance Issues:
• Serve as a mediator to resolve employee grievances and disputes in accordance with labour laws, other applicable regulatory requirements and Company policies/procedures
• Address performance-related conflicts, including underperformance or behavioral issues in a professional and productive manner
• Work with Line Managers to develop Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) for underperforming employees and ensure proper monitoring and documentation in place
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
• Certification in Performance Management or HR (e.g., HRIM or similar) are a plus
• Minimum 8 years of experience in performance management
• Proven track record in leadership roles with a focus on performance optimization
• Experience in performance analytics management or performance management is required
• Experience in leading transformation and Change Management
• Excellent industry awareness and understanding of the performance management evaluation needs of the Company
• Deep knowledge and understanding of performance management concepts, best practices and tools with substantial experience in incorporating these into business-focused solutions, including workable implementation plans (e.g., design of departmental structures with a cohesive framework of competency)
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills (including presentation skills) across levels, with an ability to persuade and influence, and the ability to build enthusiasm and commitment
• Strong business acumen, with the good analytical skills to formulate the performance management strategy and concept
• Strategic thinking - Ability to align performance management with long-term business goals
