JOB TITLE : TAX MANAGER
POSITION OVERVIEW
Tax compliance, tax management, tax advisory, tax analysis & forecasting and regulatory affairs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Tax Compliance
To ensure compliance to ITA 1967 including but not limited to the following:
• Annual tax submission for the Group
• Annual tax estimates for the Group
• Tax computation for monthly closing purposes
• Monthly tax instalment payment for the Group
2. Tax Management
• Manage tax-related functions in a timely and quality manner
• Improve year end / quarter tax reporting process
• Proactive and centralised collaboration to ensure full compliance eg. e-invoicing, SST and WHT
• Design and develop new processes related to treasury and tax by leveraging formularised worksheet, models, system or cloud document
• Share knowledge on tax or improvement initiatives
3. Tax Advisory
• Review and advise on related party transactions and transfer pricing issues
• Review and advise on tax incentives applicable to companies, employees and directors
• Review and advise on the tax structure and tax strategy for the Group
• Review and advise on tax implication of any transactions within the Group inclusive of SST, import duty, direct, indirect in relation to ITA 1967 and Employment Tax
4. Tax Analysis & Forecasting
• Conduct tax planning and budgeting for every incoming quarter
• Conduct analysis on variances and identify the root cause
• Conduct monthly tax audit
• Identify risk-related risks and provide action plans to mitigate potential penalties or tax costs
5. Regulatory Affairs
• Identify tax incentives and programs by the Government and GLC that the company can participate in or apply to reduce overall cost, especially post National Budget
• Communicate with stakeholders on potential tax incentives or tax wishlist
• Develop actions plan with the respective departments to put in place programmes that can maximise tax return
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or related field. A licensed tax agent or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is a plus
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Tax
• Sound knowledge of tax accounting, compliance and all types of tax returns
• Advanced in Microsoft suite applications and financial reporting
• Possesses problem solving and analytical skills with attention to details
• Strong leadership and good at meeting deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Enthusiastic and possess strong desire to improve work processes
